After getting up from the bed in the morning, when I keep my feet on the ground I feel a sharp pain in my feet, particularly on the heel and side of the feet. During winter, the foot pain becomes severe. I am sure that it is not only my story and many people irrespective of age are suffering from this painful condition.

People generally get foot pain due to some problems in any part of the foot. Some people may get pain on the top of foot, pain in ball of foot, pain in arch of foot, pain on outside of foot, pain in top of foot, pain in heel of foot, pain on bottom of foot while some others get nerve pain in the foot, pain in the side of the foot etc.

The location of foot pain varies from person to person but the causes of foot pain are common and they are:

1. Vinegar

Method 1: Vinegar with Salt

Things You Need:

  • Vinegar-2tbsp
  • Salt-1tbsp
  • Water-3 cups

Process:

  1. Take a bowl with 3 cups of water.
  2. Allow it to boil for 10 minutes in medium flame.
  3. Add 2 tbsp of vinegar and 1tbsp of salt to it.
  4. Stir the ingredients well.
  5. Soak your feet in the liquid for 20 minutes.
  6. Repeat this process every day to reduce and stop foot pain.

Method 2: Vinegar with Cold and Hot Water

Things You Need:

  • Vinegar-1cup
  • Cold water-1cup
  • A towel

Process:

  1. Take a container with 1cup of cold water.
  2. Add 1cup of vinegar to it
  3. Mix the liquid well and soak a towel in the liquid.
  4. Remove the towel and strain the excess liquid from it.
  5. Wrap your foot with the liquid soaked towel for a ½ hour.
  6. Repeating the same process using 1 cup of hot water also works effectively to reduce severe foot pain.

2. Clove Oil

Clove oil treats your foot pain by increasing the blood circulation to your foot. Apart from that it also reduces ankle pain.

Method 1: Using Clove Oil

Things You Need:

  • Clove oil-5 to 6 tbsp

Process:

  1. Take 5-6 tbsp of clove oil.
  2. Apply them to your feet and heels several times a day
  3. Allow the oil to remain on your feet and heel for ½ hour.
  4. Repeat this process more than once in a day to get rid of the foot as well as heel pain.

Method 2: Using Clove Oil with Olive Oil

Things You Need:

  • Clove oil-1 tbsp
  • Olive oil-1 tbsp

Process:

  1. Take 1tbsp of clove oil in a container.
  2. Add 1 tbsp of olive oil to it and mix well.
  3. Apply this mixed oil to your feet and allow it to remain for a ½ hour.
  4. Rinse it off with fresh water.
  5. Repeat this process every day to get rid of chronic foot pain.

3. Cayenne Pepper

Cayenne PepperCayenne pepper is rich in capsaicin, which relieves the pain in aching feet and muscle aches of the foot. The use of cayenne pepper reduces the foot pain quickly.

Method 1:

Things You Need:

  • Cayenne pepper- ½ tbsp
  • Sock – 1

Process:

  1. Take a sock and sprinkle ½ tbsp of cayenne pepper in it.
  2. Wear the sock at night before going to bed.
  3. Next morning remove the sock.
  4. Wash your foot gently with fresh water.
  5. Repeating this process once a week will relieve severe pain on the arch of the foot.

Method 2:

Things You Need:

  • Cayenne powder-1 ½ tbsp
  • Water- ½ bowl

Process: 

  1. Take a ½ bowl of water and heat it.
  2. Add 1 ½ tbsp of cayenne pepper to it and stir the liquid well.
  3. Soak your foot in the liquid for 20 minutes.
  4. Repeat this process once a week, which gives a soothing effect by relieving the foot pain.

4. Epsom Salt

Epsom salt is rich in magnesium sulfate, which relaxes your foot by soothing them. This remedy will give instant relief to severe foot pain.

Things You Need:

  • Epsom salt- 1 to 2 tbsp
  • Water- 2 to 3 cups
  • A moisturizer

Process:

  1. Take 2-3 cups of water.
  2. Add 1-2 tbsp of Epsom salt and stir it well.
  3. Soak your foot for 15-20 minutes.
  4. Gently wash your foot with fresh water.
  5. Apply your regular moisturizer to your foot.
  6. Repeat this process twice a day, which quickly heal the pain on the side of the foot.

5. Peppermint Oil

Peppermint oil has menthone, which provides you great relief from arch pain in the foot. It treats foot pain quickly.

Things You Need:

  • Peppermint oil – 2 drops
  • Water- 1 bowl
  • Eucalyptus oil – 4 drops
  • Rosemary oil – 4 drops

Process:

  1. Take 1 bowl of water and boil it in medium flame.
  2. Add 2 drops of peppermint oil to the boiled water.
  3. Also, add 4 drops each of eucalyptus and rosemary oil to it.
  4. Stir the oils well in the water.
  5. Soak your foot for 10 minutes in the oil mixed hot water.
  6. Repeat this process every day to reduce chronic foot pain.

6. Sage

Sage provides you immediate relief from the strain, sprain or soreness and all the discomfort caused due to foot pain.

Things You Need:

  • Sage-2 to 3 leaves
  • Apple cider vinegar- 2/3 cup
  • Cloth-1

Process:

  1. Take 2-3 sage leaves.
  2. First, rub the leaves in your palm as it releases the curative chemicals found in the herb.
  3. Keep the sage leaves in a container.
  4. Add 2/3 cup of apple cider vinegar to it.
  5. Boil the ingredients for 5 minutes.
  6. Soak a piece of clean cloth for 5 minutes in this liquid.
  7. Take the cloth and apply it on the paining foot to soothe the pain.

7. Asparagus

Asparagus has natural diuretic properties, which reduce the pain in the side of the foot and pain in the bottom of the foot. Asparagus is an effective remedy to treat foot pain.

Things You Need:

  • Asparagus – 5 to 6 springs
  • Water-1 cup

Process:

  1. Take a cup of water and boil it.
  2. Add 5-6 asparagus spring to it.
  3. Eat the boiled asparagus.
  4. Include this in your daily diet.
  5. Repeat this process once in a week to reduce foot pain.

8. Ice

Rubbing a piece of an ice cube on your foot gives a cooling effect to the nerve of the painful area and reduces the swelling caused due to foot pain.

Things You Need:

  • Ice cubes – 5 to 6

Process:

  1. Take 5-6 ice cubes from your refrigerator.
  2. Crush them into small pieces.
  3. Collect the small pieces of ice cubes and wrap them in a plastic bag.
  4. Use the plastic bag to massage the paining area of your foot.
  5. Massage it gently in a circular motion.
  6. Repeat this process once a day to get rid of foot pain.

Note: Do not use this ice pack continuously, which will affect your skin and nerves badly.

9. Hot and Cold Water

Hot and cold water will effectively promote blood circulation and reduce the foot pain by decreasing the inflammation.

Things You Need:

  • Water-5 to 6 cups.

Process:

  1. Take 5-6 cups of water in a bowl.
  2. Boil the water for 10 minutes.
  3. Keep your foot slowly in the hot water.
  4. Allow it to remain for 1 minute.

  • Cinnamon powder-1gram
  • Water-1 glass

11. Mustard

  • Mustard seeds-4 tbsp
  • Water-4 cups

  3. Add the paste to the warm water.
  4. Soak your feet in the warm water for 10-15 minutes.
